IN 2008 BEGANN KARINA MIT DER ARBEIT AN DEM ERSTEN MÄUSEHAUS

Sie baute das gesamte Mäusehaus aus Kartons und wiederverwertbaren Abfallmaterialien. Zimmer für Zimmer und Wohnung für Wohnung wuchs das Mäusehaus stets weiter und wurde immer größer und lebendiger. Nach 3 Jahren war das erste Mäusehaus fertig gebaut und ganze 3 Meter hoch und 2 Meter breit geworden. In 2011 war es dann auch endlich soweit: Karinas Traum wurde wahr! Das Mäusehaus wurde fotografiert und das erste Kinderbuch wurde veröffentlicht. Aber dabei blieb es nicht, denn mittlerweile gibt es 17 verschiedene Bücher, ist das allererste Mäusehaus ein Museumsstück geworden und dürfen wir uns eine beliebte Kindermarke nennen. Dabei ist es uns wichtig Kinder in allerlei Hinsicht anzusprechen: kreativ, mit Lerneffekt und immer mit Blick auf wichtige Themen in unserer Gesellschaft. Unsere Produkte wählen wir dann auch mit Sorgfalt aus und wir fühlen uns verantwortlich für eine positive Lernentwicklung für Kinder. SAM UND JULIA.

Now there are twentytwo books published, and the original Mouse Mansion is on display in the Mouse Mansion shop & mini museum in Amsterdam.

Julia's appartement is largely based on Karina's childhood home. This home filled with love and creativity forms the foundation of the Mouse Mansion. Loads of Mouse Mansion stories find their origin in Karina's childhood memories. She is the daughter of a single mother, an immigrant from Indonesia. The loving atmosphere in their home was set in sharp contrast to the outside world, where both Karina and her mother were heavily discriminated against. With The Mouse Mansion Karina has created the world of inclusivity and friendship that she so desperately wanted as a child.
